Arts and Culture Market, Abuja

I visited the Arts and Culture Market in Abuja, opposite Sheraton in zone 4, Abuja and I met some interesting artistic people. Babagana (and friends) ¬†from Maiduguri who makes and sells the traditional Hausa caps to M. Durotimi who paints beautiful pictures! Their huts were small and packed with different , multicoloured items – i found the skin/fur of a leopard to be cool and probably severely underpriced (sorry PETA). It’s a beautiful place dedicated to various arts from tailoring to painting and even wood carving, it’s a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by so much art and creativity with their respective creatives. There isn’t much to say because the place speaks for itself.

They have some really cool stuff and if you have a taste for traditionally artistic items or African art, pay them a visit. Let’s support our artists and art…

Have you been there? What do you think about the arts and culture market? Do you plan to go there? Looking forward to hearing from you.. maryam_laushi@hotmail.co.uk
